Summary: Activities in the second quarter included outreach to Kenai Peninsula Borough communities through a presentation at a community science conference in Homer, Alaska as well as outreach to the North Slope community of Wainwright through a community presentation. LEO was referenced in a DHSS Public Health Bulletin on the Health Impacts of Climate Change; and was the topic of a descriptive paper by the CDC Arctic Investigations program, that will be published in a journal in the future. Efforts to find Inupiaq translators have resumed.
Activities in the third quarter will focus on:
• Outreach in the Kenai Peninsula Borough through presentations and workshops for area staff from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Kachemak Bay State Park, Kachemak Bay Reserve and the Pratt Museum as part of the master naturalist training.
• Outreach to North Slope Borough Communities through a webinar based training with North Slope Borough community IGAP programs.
• The translation of the LEO Network platform into Inupiaq will be completed in the third quarter through a translation workshop at ANTHC on May 21, 2018. The translation will be performed by independent contractors who have previous translation experience.
