Background: This project began in October of 2016 with the purpose of increasing Local Environmental Observer (LEO) Network membership in communities in the North Slope and in the Kenai Peninsula boroughs of Alaska. Additional goals include expanding the use of indigenous languages, increasing scientific value, rigor, and content, of the LEO Network and developing a set of lessons learned.

Purpose and Objectives: The purpose is to extend, refine and improve LEO Network to better connect existing efforts and provide continuity. Objectives include expanding LEO Network to North Slope Borough and the Kenai Peninsula Borough with a focus on the North Slope communities of Barrow, Kaktovik, Nuiqsut, Wainwright, Point Lay and Point Hope.

Deliverables: These include quarterly and final project reports, accumulated data within system, (available to LEO Network members via website) submission of paper to peer reviewed journal and one regional presentation.
