Snow is as high as ski lifts in California as drought abates

California is experiencing heavy snowfall, with ski resorts reporting record-breaking snow depths. Bear Valley Resort, Northstar, and Palisades Tahoe have all received over 600 inches of snow. The abundance of snow has caused chairlifts to be buried, requiring manual digging to clear them. Dodge Ridge and Bear Valley are expected to break their previous snowfall records soon. Sierra-at-Tahoe has tied its third-highest snow total on record and may surpass its second-highest total from 2005-2006. The University of California at Berkeley's Central Sierra Snow Lab is just 3 inches away from surpassing the second snowiest winter on record.
