Austerdalsbreen, a branch of Jostedalsbreen in Luster, retreated about 300 meters this summer, helping form a growing proglacial lake that could reach 2.5 km long and 50 m deep. Rapid glacier loss has made guiding on the glacier unsafe and is reshaping the local landscape and identity.
