An East Hillcrest Ave. home was damaged in a mudslide brought by heavy rains Thursday afternoon.

An “atmospheric river” brought more than 1.5 inches of rain onto a recent snowpack in Kodiak, creating deep roadway flooding/ponding, very icy conditions, and prompting closures and canceled meetings as crews worked to keep drains clear.

Kodiak experienced a record-breaking rainfall on November 8, with 3.42 inches surpassing the previous record from 1985. Despite the heavy rain, which contributed to a significant monthly rainfall, no significant flooding occurred.

Russian River flooded last week in Kodiak leaving some residents scrambling to address the damage.
