A late and uneven freeze-up on the Anadyr Estuary has delayed the seasonal ice-road crossings linking Anadyr with the airport area, as ice thickness and cracks are still unsafe for heavy equipment.

Municipal and utility services across Chukotka, including in Anadyr, switched to an intensified work режим to clear heavy snowfall brought by an Okhotsk Sea cyclone. Crews prioritized roads, social facilities and public-transport stops, removing over 5,000 cubic meters of snow in Anadyr in five days.

Thick, continuous ice up to 30–40 cm hindered docking of the cargo ship FESCO Moneron at the Port of Anadyr, with successful mooring only on a second attempt. Ice navigation has been declared since October 18, restricting entry to vessels of at least Ice 2 class.

A cyclone brought wet snow and wind gusts up to 28 m/s to Chukotka, causing power outages, water supply disruptions, and widespread flight delays. Ferry service across the Anadyr Estuary was suspended in the morning, with plans to resume service later in the day.

On July 26, storm‐force southeast winds gusting up to 19 m/s and light rain forced a temporary shutdown of seaport operations in Anadyr, delaying cargo unloading and canceling passenger ferry crossings.

On December 27, Chukotka will experience cloudy weather with patches of clearing, and temperatures may drop to minus 53 degrees in the continental region.

Unusually warm temperatures for an extended period this winter has affected the ability to travel because the river isn't freezing over.
