The snowpack level on Vancouver Island is at 0 per cent of typical levels for June, according to the latest Snow Survey and Water Supply Bulletin released by the B.C. River Forecast Centre.

West Coast fish and forests are in greater peril than ever as the B.C. government issues widespread drought warnings after a record-breaking heat wave and an explosion of wildfires across the province.

An out-of-control wildfire south of Pemberton, B.C., triggered an evacuation order for One Mile Lake Park as crews worked to contain the fast-growing blaze. The fire was one of several new wildfires in British Columbia amid hot, dry, and lightning-prone conditions.

B.C. Wildfire Service reported 19 early-season wildfires burning across British Columbia, most of them human-caused, and urged residents to be cautious outdoors amid warming and drying conditions.
