Heavy, prolonged rains in Suntar District, Sakha Republic, flooded large areas of farmland and damaged homes. Officials say 72% of agricultural land is under water, and the harvest in the district center of Suntar was completely destroyed.
During the active river ice breakup in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), high water on the Yana, Aldan and Kolyma rivers flooded over 100 household plots in several districts. Authorities report that homes and temporary accommodation centers have not been affected.
Heavy rains have caused the Indigirka River to overflow and a flood wave to move along the Aldan River, prompting Sakha Republic authorities to declare a regional-level state of emergency affecting three districts.
Heavy rainfall has raised water levels in the Indigirka, Kuydusun, and Nera rivers, flooding yards in Orto-Balagay, Kuydusun, Oymyakon and Ust-Nera, and submerging sections of the Oymyakon and Kolyma highways.
