Oxfam: Climate change deepening Horn of Africa's hunger crisis

Climate change is worsening drought and humanitarian disasters in the Horn of Africa, according to Oxfam. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization has warned that 12 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia are at risk of hunger due to recurring droughts, with Somalia at risk of famine for the second time in six years. Nigel Tricks, Oxfam's regional director, stated that “what were previously once in a lifetime droughts now come around more often”. East Africa is currently experiencing its third year of very low rainfall, coupled with above average temperatures.
