Colorado has seen relief from the drought that has affected the state for the past year due to heavy snowfall over the past few months. The bomb cyclone, along with other factors, has helped to eradicate all but the lowest criteria of drought from the state. The severe criteria has completely disappeared from the map and the moderate criteria has gone from 25% to just 6%. The system that brought the bomb cyclone to southern Colorado last week was one of the biggest drivers of this relief. In the first 19 days of March, Colorado Snotel precipitation observation sites were measuring 289% March average snow, which is nearly three times the amount of snow normally seen in the whole month.
