Climate change taking toll on clarity of Lake Tahoe water

Climate change is causing Lake Tahoe to warm up earlier in the spring, disrupting the normal mixing of shallow and deep water and reversing gains made in reversing the loss of clarity of the lake. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, which regulates the lake, has said that climate change is impacting not only the lake's water quality, but also the health of its forests and its recreation-based economy. The clarity of the lake has decreased from over 102 feet in 1968 to an average of about 69 feet now.
