A 36-foot wooden fishing troller, the F/V Faithful, sank in Haines Harbor on Dec. 30 after pumps froze in cold weather and heavy snow, creating a fuel sheen and prompting an open case with Alaska environmental officials. The boat was later salvaged and refloated, while the borough continues to incur repair and response costs.
