A snow- and sea-ice-poor winter in northern Greenland is creating uncertainty for the Avannaata Qimussersua dog sled race planned in Qasigiannguit. Organizers say the race may need to be postponed if adequate and safe sea ice does not form, especially for participants from Upernavik and Uummannaq.
