An extreme cold spell in Finnish Lapland led several daycares in Rovaniemi to keep children indoors as temperatures fell to about −33°C. In eastern Lapland (Savukoski), daycares reported even colder conditions (around −43°C) and limited outdoor activity due to health and frostbite concerns.
