Cold winter conditions in Noatak, Alaska, have provided stability for erosion control projects, allowing the completion of a revetment wall before the anticipated spring thaw and river ice movement in May.
Observation by Jeffrey Luther
Everything is stable. As spring arrives creeks will flow into river and river ice starts to move.

The revetment wall in Noatak is being finished up in April as conditions stay cold. The spring breakup will start to move everything in May with spring freeze ups at night and thawing during the day. In the sidebar you can see past erosion impacts on revetment walls and spring icicles impacting the cut bank.
