A 99-hectare wildfire 32 km from the village of Anyuysk in Bilibino District is being fought by 20 airborne firefighters, with nine more specialists en route by Mi-8 helicopter.
A wildland fire covering about 94 ha is being fought 200 km southwest of Bilibino in Chukotka, with 20 firefighters, a Mi-8 helicopter, chainsaws, water pumps, and no threat to settlements.
On Tuesday, August 4, paratroopers of Chukchi and Federal Aviation Protection stopped the spread of a large fire in the Bilibin district.
The total area of active forest fires in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) grew from 265 ha to 1,462.5 ha on July 22, with 10 fires being fought by 306 personnel and 14 units of equipment.
