King and chum salmon numbers on the Yukon River have risen this summer, bringing limited fishing opportunities and much-needed food to communities like Anvik after years of severe decline. Scientists say the runs are still below recovery goals, and the rebound has reignited debate over fishing bans and illegal harvests.
